The first leg - just as the return game - of the final will be played in a modern handball arena.
Sunday's Venue: Campushalle
The first leg of the Champions League Final 2006/07 will be played in a state-of-the-art handball arena, the Campushalle of Flensburg.
The sports hall was built in the new millennium to replace Wikinghalle serving the club since 1975 – it was inaugurated on 2 December 2001.
The new arena has seen the most glorious period of SG Flensburg as the team has achieved the greatest successes in Campushalle. The first Bundesliga title was won here in 2004 and the first Cupwinners’ Cup trophy was also lifted here.
A Champions League Final will not be new to Campushalle either. Three years ago Flensburg have beaten Celje by two goals here – though the advantage was not enough for the second leg.
The opponents may enjoy the atmosphere and the beauty of the arena, but rarely the victories as it is not an easy court for the guests. More than hundred games were played during the six years of Campushalle, but only 7 away victories and 4 draws were recorded.
