Slagelse coaches demand more focus

Concentration and focus will be the key words for Slagelse DT, when the Danes enter the court in Győr on Sunday afternoon to face Györ Audi ETO.

Greater concentration is needed in key situationsThe Danes who won the tournament in 2004 and 2005, have a six-goal lead from the first leg won by Slagelse 31-25.

The relatively big advantage in Børndbyhallen by Copenhagen was taken after a miserable Slagelse start when they got four goals behind, while towards the end of the match Győr managed to reduce Slagelse’s lead from nine goals to six.

Accordingly, coaches demand more focus throughout the 60 minutes in the second leg on Sunday in Hungary.

“We missed too many scoring opportunities in the second half of the first leg, so we need to concentrate more on that aspect of the game,” Slagelse’s assistant coach, Peter Bruun Jørgensen told Eurohandball.com.

“As usual, we do not go to an away game to defend our advantage. We are going for another victory and we started our preparations for that right after the first leg,” Peter Bruun Jørgensen added.

Looking forward to the second match

Slagelse have to cope with the home players and supporters as wellSlagelse will probably not feel intimidated by the atmosphere in the Győr playing hall and the coaches are looking forward to the away match.

“There is no doubt that we will be up against a typical Hungarian crowd who will try to put a lot of pressure on us and on the referees. We are so used to that and we go for another win anyway,” said Peter Bruun Jørgensen.

Head coach Anja Andersen commented: “We just love to play in halls like that, so we are really looking forward to that match. We did the first part of the job in the first leg, getting the first two points – now we go for the next two. However, some of our players will have to improve compared to the first match.”

The match, which will decide whether Slagelse play third Champions League final or Györ reach the ‘promised land’ for the first time. The throw off will be at 14.00 hrs on Sunday afternoon.
